How We Review Trade Business Tools
These are the rules we hold ourselves to. They exist so a busy contractor can trust what they read here without having to work out who paid for it.
1. Content is practical and written in plain English
We write for business owners and office managers, not software specialists. Where a technical term is unavoidable, we explain it the first time we use it. If a page cannot be understood on a phone during a coffee break, it is not finished.
2. Tools are assessed against real business needs, not hype
Our starting point is always the job to be done: fewer missed calls, faster estimates, better follow-up, clearer scheduling. Feature lists are a poor way to choose software, because the longest feature list usually belongs to the system your team will not use.
We are deliberately cautious about new categories, including AI. Something being new is not a reason to buy it, and it is not a reason to dismiss it either.
3. Future comparisons will say who a tool is not for
A single "best tool" verdict is almost always wrong, because a solo HVAC technician and a twelve-crew roofing company need different things. Our comparisons will describe the type of business each option suits, and will be explicit about who should look elsewhere.
We do not publish invented reviews, fabricated testimonials, made-up case studies, customer logos we have no relationship with, or star ratings that are not backed by documented assessment.
4. Any commercial relationship will be clearly disclosed
The Modern Trade Toolkit currently carries no advertising, no sponsored content and no affiliate links.
If that changes, and it may, we will disclose it plainly on the pages concerned and in a site-wide disclosure. A commercial relationship will never buy a recommendation, a ranking position or the removal of a criticism.
5. We do not promise business results
Software does not guarantee more jobs, more revenue or more profit. Results depend on your market, your pricing, your team and how consistently a system is used.
You will not find guaranteed-outcome claims or invented statistics on this site. Where we reference a number, we will say where it came from.
6. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we will fix it and note what changed. A contact route for corrections will be published alongside our contact details once that system is connected.
